Cannon Fodder controversy

AP32 was to feature a large poppy on the front cover for the game Cannon Fodder. The Daily Star were alerted to an ad for the magazine and ran a story "Poppy game insult to our war dead" that caused an outcry from war veterans. Under pressure from the Royal British Legion, the cover was changed to a screenshot from the game.

In AP32's "Stuart would just like to say" section at the bottom of page 4, Stuart Campbell wrote "Old soldiers? I wish them all dead" which caused further trouble. The Star ran another story "Poppy row mag insults old soldiers" saying "Britain's ex-servicemen are up in arms after a magazine boss declared he would like to see all old soldiers dead".
